Who helped Elsa learn to control her magic? Anna. And how was that possible? Through the power of True Love.
And who’s been helping Emma learn to control her magic? Oh that’s right, Regina! And what have they always said is the most powerful magic of all? Oh yeah, True Love!

Because people like to create drama.
everyone assumes they hate each other because people want a narrative to explain why every other combination of actors ends up next to each other at publicity events but these two, and every other show will put their two leads interacting at some point but this one.
of course, there’s always the other explanation …
While I can understand the OPs frustrations with having such a harsh accusation being made about their ship, I also see the merit (or foregone conclusion) to the idea that Captain Swan or Hook can promote rape culture. The issue lies in the fact that it is all up to interpretation. However, instead of blind accusations, I am going to choose to educate. I will provide the defintion of ‘rape culture’ and then place it alongside Captain Hook/Captain Swan scenes. Again, this is not prove that rape culture is occurring, merely showing how it can be interpreted as such.
From: Transforming Rape Culture by Emilie Buchwald
A rape culture is a complex of beliefs that encourages male sexual aggression and supports violence against women. It is a society where violence is seen as sexy and sexuality as violent. In a rape culture, women perceive a continuum of threatened violence that ranges from sexual remarks to sexual touching to rape itself. A rape culture condones physical and emotional terrorism against women as the norm.
In a rape culture both men and women assume that sexual violence is a fact of life, inevitable as death or taxes. This violence, however, is neither biologically nor divinely ordained. Much of what we accept as inevitable is in fact the expression of values and attitudes that can change.

terrorism(manipulation or bullying)
Remember, Emma thought Hook was a stranger in this scene. This is a man - who kissed her without her wanting him to - telling Emma to drink a strange liquid without any knowledge of what’s inside it. We are taught, as women, not to take drinks from strange men because of what might have been put in them. I understand Hook would never give Emma date rape drugs, but the perception of this scene within its context can be disturbing.
Much of what we accept as inevitable is in fact the expression of values and attitudes that can change.
While people have made a case for Hook’s ‘redemption arc’ by saying he is not the man he used to be, I personally see his “change” is for less than honorable reasons.
It comes from what can be interpreted as over possessive behavior and not fierce loyalty to the woman he loves.
So, is it stupid or ignorant to think that the idea of rape culture is depicted? No. Do I think the phrase has the capacity to be thrown around by ignorant people? Yes. On the other hand, ignoring it is not the answer. This is a problem, and it is not being addressed.
Swan Queen Week + Truth Serum
OMG YES. i want to see the rewrite of this episode where missing that one ingredient changes it from memory potion to truth serum and Regina goes around being excessively truthy.
