Lana and Jen sat side by side, across the desk from Eddie and Adam. It was unusual for two actresses to be called in to meet with the creator’s together, and Jen fidgeted nervously. Lana knew something was up, both men seemed uncharacteristically serious, and from the amount of silence that had occurred from when they sat down, this was something big.

“First, I just wanted say that both of you are doing a great job on the show,” Adam started smiling and looking between them.

“Really, I mean when we started this we had no idea how it would look, and you both just bring true magic to the characters,” Eddie agreed and defaulted to Adam to go on.

“The reason we wanted to talk to you both is because we’ve been reviewing the dailies with network execs and…” Adam paused and drew a breath, shaking his head. “They’re putting the kibosh on Swan Queen.”

Jen and Lana looked at each other in confusion and disappointment. Lana opened her mouth to say something, but Eddie put up his hands, “hear us out.”

“You two are lovely, but something is just not sitting right with how the Emma and Regina are looking with the kissing, it’s..something in the chemistry has changed,” Adam looked apologetically and slightly questioningly to Jen and Lana.

“It’s off, because you know this is the evil queen and Emma just wouldn’t be ready to forgive her so quickly and especially with Henry and Snow…you know? We were trying to force it, so we’re going to take it out…for now,” Eddie nodded his head and widened his eyes as he looked between his shocked actresses.

“Do you have any questions or concerns?” Adam asked genuinely interested in what they had to say.

“But…we’ve shot a lot- the kiss on the desk, the whole sexy sequence that Regina’s dream evolves into…not to the mention the library hurt/comfort scene before Emma goes down to slay Maleficent? I don’t get it, how are you gonna edit that out?” Jen wracked her brained going through all of the scenes. She hadn’t started out excited about Swan Queen, but now that they had filmed it and she had seen the progress between the women she didn’t want to go backwards.

“Don’t worry about the editing, leave that to us. I need you to keep this under wraps. We don’t want fans to know, and it’s been a struggle to keep it secret this long so don’t do anything to outwardly acknowledge it, okay?” Eddie asked making sure to annunciate the importance of keeping the idea low profile.

“I’m disappointed. I think that Regina finding redemption through the Savior and her son’s other mother, is the most groundbreaking thing Disney  could do,” She licked her lips and took a breath. “I don’t know why you think our chemistry has changed? If anything I think it’s gotten better.”

Jen wanted to slide off her seat, she blushed furiously. She couldn’t look at Lana, she knew she’d be wearing that sexy haughty smirk of hers and that would just set her over the edge.

“Chemistry can be delicate, and it’s not bad or anything- as you said it’s changed. We chalked it up to the characters just not being emotionally ‘ready’ for a relationship at this time,” Adam explained, shrugging lightly and noticing Jen’s odd unengaged expression.

“If you think there’s a different reason, feel free to tell us, we’re all ears,” Adam added looking at Jen.

She remained silent, shaking her head, not trusting herself to speak. She was afraid it was because of Lana and she’s extracurricular activities. They hadn’t been able to stay away from each other, and of course, they tried to keep it secret but in the business nothing ever stayed secret for long.

Eddie broke the somewhat awkward silence that had fallen over them, “Look I know this has been hard for you both. It always is and I’ve seen some of the things that people have tweeted to you over the months: smutty fan fiction, disgusting real people fiction of you both…. You deal with so much pressure in addition to just the work that goes into making the show. Thank you for rolling with the punches.”

“Yeah and since this swan queen even the cast and crew has made up rumors that you two are actually have an illicit relationship. I mean some of these things are more farfetched than the fairytales we write,” Adam barked out a laugh.

Lana raised her eyebrows, “Well, thanks for letting us know what’s going on. I trust your creative approach and we’ll see how it goes. Thank you.”

“Thanks,” Jen echoed, already standing up before the meeting had been officially dismissed. She wanted to get out of that room. She felt angry that she had put so much time and worry into how she would play this, how her fans would perceive it, and it was all for nothing.

Lana met her outside in the back lot, and silently pulled her into a hug. As if reading her thoughts, “I know it seems like we wasted a lot of effort, but I feel like my time has been put to good use.”

Jen smiled, feeling her anger dissolve under Lana’s comforting touch, “So uh, everyone seems to know about those “rumors” about us, huh?”

“Maybe we should really give them something to talk about,” Lana remarked before looking Jen over and kissing her lips.
